Combined Civil Services Examination –II(Group 2 and Group 2A)
(Interview Posts and Non-Interview Posts) Updated 2019 Syllabus
TNPSC has released the revised New Syllabus for the forthcoming Group 2 and Group 2A exams.
TNPSC has combined the both Group 2and Group 2A exam and combined both the syllabus and has given the Updated revised New Syllabus for the Upcoming Combined Civil Services Examination –II (Group 2 and Group 2A) examination.
TNPSC has modified the OLD Syllabus and they removed the Language portion (GENERAL TAMIL & GENERAL ENGLISH) and they changed the syllabus according to the current updates.
NEW Syllabus covers only GENERAL STUDIES(175 questions) & MENTAL ABILITY AND REASONING PART(25 questions).
Excluded the GENERAL TAMIL and GENERAL ENGLISH

STUDENTS DONT PANIC, TNPSC has revised the syllabus and it covered 90% of syllabus from the OLD SYLLABUS.
TNPSC added the EXTRA 2 TOPICS only as separate subjects. SO DONT PANIC
UNIT- VIII : History, Culture, Heritage and Socio – Political Movements in Tamil Nadu
UNIT – IX : Development Administration in Tamil Nadu
Preliminary Examination will be of Objective type (total 300 marks)
Subjects :
- General Studies (Degree Standard) – 175 questions
- Aptitude and Mental Ability (SSLC Standard)- 25 questions
- Minimum Qualifying Marks(For all Communities) – 90 marks out of 300 marks
- Time limit – 3 hours
Preliminary will be the deciding factor for entering Mains Examination. Preliminary marks will not considered to
add in the final marks. preliminary is the gateway and Qualifying exam to enter mains examination.
Mains Examination will be of Descriptive type (total 300 marks)(Degree Standard)
After clearing the prelims, Mains exam will be conducted, it is descriptive type. the mains examination will be
common for both exams(GROUP 2 and Group 2A) , because TNPSC combined both the syllabus of GROUP 2 and GROUP 2A
Part A
(Translation Part TAMIL – ENGLISH, ENGLISH – TAMIL) – 100 marks
Minimum qualifying marks – 25 marks
Part A – Qualifying part and this mark is valid and added in total marks in mains.
Part B
(Comprehension, precis, letter writing, Hints developing, essay writing on Thirukkural)
Total marks – 200 marks (no qualifying marks)
Total Marks obtained in Part A and Part B together will be considered for selection
GROUP 2 (Interview post)
- Preliminary (Qualifying exam) – Minimum qualifying marks 90(for all communities) out of 300
- Mains Examination – 300 marks – Minimum Qualifying marks in MAINS Examination 102 (for all communities) out of 300 MARKS
- Oral test – 40 marks
- Total marks – 300(mains mark)+40 = 340
GROUP 2 (Non Interview post)
- Preliminary (Qualifying exam), Minimum qualifying marks 90(for all communities) out of 300
- Mains Examination – 300 marks
- Minimum Qualifying marks in MAINS Examination 102 (for all communities) out of 300 MARKS
